01/15/12 Buddha traveled to Sinton, TX for the Corpus Christi Kennel Club shows. He was Best of Breed each day and received a Group 4 on Sunday! First group placement of the year!!!

01/08/12 Buddha started the new year at the Kennel Club of Palm Springs shows in Indio, CA. He won Best of Breed both days and made the cut in group on Day 1! This was really great considering the size of this show (3500 entries!). These pictures were taken by a reporter and featured in the Desert Sun newspaper.

12/25/11 Happy Holidays from Rising Star Bordeaux!

12/18/11 Buddha attended the 2011 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship show in Orlando, FL, and also showed at the all breed shows that preceded it. He won Select Dog on Friday and won an Award of Merit on Sunday at Eukanuba. We would like to extend a special congratulations to Moses (GCH Rising Star's I'll Fly Away) and his owners Pam and Vic Smith on his BOB win on Friday, Select Dog on Weds & Thurs, and the 1st Award of Merit at Eukanuba! We could not be prouder of how both Hugo son's did at these shows! They also both were great ambassadors for the breed as they worked in the Meet The Breed Booth greeting 100's of people.

12/24/11 Happy 7th Birthday to our H litter!!! We are thrilled that both Hugo and Bruno are doing very well and we hope they will be celebrating many more years!

12/11/11 Buddha traveled to Dallas, TX for three all breed shows. He won Best of Breed each day and made the cut in the Group on Day 1.

11/22/11 Buddha received an invitation to the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show to be held Feb 13-14, 2012 at Madison Square Garden in NYC, for being the #2 ddb in the country. Additionally, we are thrilled to report "Moses" (GCH Rising Star's I'll Fly Away owned by Pam & Vic Smith) also received an invitation for being #5. So proud to have two Hugo son's in the top 5 and compete at this event. We are counting the days and can't wait to participate again next year!!!

11/20/11 Buddha continued his roll by taking four more Best of Breeds in Chickasha, OK. He also got a Group 3 on Thursday! This is his NINTH Group Placement this year! Go Buddha!

11/15/11 We finally received confirmation that Buddha has been officially recorded as an AKC SILVER GRAND CHAMPION! He had to earn 200 GCH points to do this, which can only be obtained from breed competition. And he is just 2 years old! He is one of two ddb in the country to have achieved this honor.

11/13/11 Buddha showed at the Southern CO Kennel Club shows in Pueblo, CO. In addition to two more Best of Breed's, he picked up a 220 point Group 4 on Saturday!!! What a thrill this was at such a large show.

11/06/11 Buddha traveled to El Paso, TX for the Onate Trail Dog Fanciers Assoc shows and had a fantastic weekend! He won breed both days and was honored with yet another GROUP 1 win on Saturday and followed up with a Group 3 on Sunday! This weekend was a lot of fun.

We are pleased to report that we had 4 dogs qualify for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Dog Show this year. Hugo and three of his kids, Buddha, Isis and Jedi all received invitations! Hugo had several other offspring qualify this year as well! The show is being held Dec 17-18, 2011 in Orlando, FL.

10/20/11 We have more wonderful OFA results! Two of our I girls have passed OFA Hips, Elbows and Shoulders! Izzy (owned by Gale Bandsma) received and OFA Good Hip Rating, and our Isis received an OFA Fair. Isis also passed her Thyroid. Please see her page for copies of her certs. We are so thrilled we these results! Both girls as well as Buddha also have been issued CHIC numbers.

10/17/11 Buddha showed all 4 days at the Los Lunas, NM shows. He won Best of Breed all four days and made the cut in Working Group the last day. On Sunday, we traveled down with the girls, and Paidra won Winner's Bitch and Best of Opposite! She earned the last point needed and she is a now a new AKC CHAMPION!

10/16/11 A very HUGE congratulations to Moses (GCH Rising Star's I'll Fly Away) on his Group 4 placement at the Tri-Star KC of Williamson County show in TN. Not only is it outstanding for a bordeaux to be recognized at the group level, but an even greater achievement for an OWNER/HANDLER! My hats off to Pam and Vic Smith and all of the hard work they have put into showing Moses. Great job!!!

10/09/11 Buddha traveled to Alamogordo, NM for three days of showing. He won Best of Breed and made the cut in Working Group each day!

09/30/11 Buddha has completed all of his health testing and passed all OFA exams! Please see his page for copies of his certs, but he has received an OFA Fair Hips, Normal Elbows and Normal Shoulders! Isis and Jedi also passed their OFA Patellas.

* 09/25/11 We have another Grand Champion in the family! Big congrats to GCH Evergreen's Serenity River (Lucy) and her owner Ruth Greene for finishing her GCH title today.

09/24/11 Buddha continued his TX journey at the Heart of the Plains Kennel Club shows in Lubbock, TX. He once again won breed all four days, but even more exciting won another Group 1 and a Group 3! This was a first for us to have back to back group placements and we could not be prouder of our boy. As always, special thanks to Michael Brantley PHA for showing him to perfection!

09/18/11 Buddha traveled to Amarillo, TX for the Panhandle Kennel Club of TX Shows. He won Best of Breed all four days and also a Group 3 on Saturday!

09/11/11 We were in Greeley again for the Evergreen Colorado Kennel Club shows. Buddha won two more Best of Breeds, while Paidra picked up 4 more points towards her AKC championship. She was Winner's Bitch both days and Best of Winners on Saturday for a 3 pt major.

09/04/11 Buddha and Paidra showed at the Cheyenne Kennel Club shows in WY, Buddha was Best of Breed both days while Paidra was Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners!

08/21/11 Buddha and Paidra showed at the Greeley Kennel Club shows. Buddha won two Best of Breed's, while Paidra picked up two 5 point majors by winning Winner's Bitch both days! Juno was also here visiting from IL and she won her class and was Reserve Winner's the first day.

07/29/11 Happy 2nd Birthday to our very special boy Buddha! It's hard to believe he is still so young, with how much he has accomplished so far. We are beyond excited to see what the future will bring!!!

07/25/11 Buddha traveled to Houston, TX for the Reliant Park World Series of Dog Shows. He won Best of Breed all 4 days and made the cut in Working Group two times!

07/18/11 Buddha showed at the Roaring Fork Kennel Club shows in Eagle, CO and won Best of Breed both days!

07/08/11 Exciting news from the World Show (222 ddb entries) and French Champion show (181 entries) in Paris! At the World Dog Show Paidra's son, Tanakajd Szepe Ozzy (owned by Arpad), was 4th place in the Intermediate Male class, and he went on to win 1st place at the French Champion show the next day! Zizi's son, and Paidra's littermate brother, Tanakajd Szepe Puerto (now owned by Phil Turnbull of England), won 1st place Open Male, CACS and R.CACIB making him Reserve World Winner! Also, Zizi's other daughter, Tanakajd Szepe Ginever (owned by Chris of Tudor DDB in England) won 4th place Open female at the French Championship show. Congratulations to all! We are very proud of you!

07/03/11 Buddha won Best of Breed all 4 days at the Oklahoma City Summer Classic Dog Shows! After his amazing Group 1 on the first day, he made the cut in Group on both Friday and Saturdays shows. Saturday's show was televised to air at a later date on ESPN and was aired live on the barknetwork.com. Special thanks to all of his fans for cheering him on!!!

07/02/11 Jedi is a new champion! At just 13 months old she has finished her AKC Championship from the bred-by class after only three weekends with competition! She won Winner's Bitch and Best of Winner's at the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club show in Loveland, CO earning her last point. Jedi is our third bred-by champion from three separate litters!

06/30/11 At the Oklahoma City Kennel Club show Buddha makes breed history by being the youngest ddb to win a GROUP 1!!! This is a large and prestigious cluster of shows with some of the top dogs in the country. We are beyond thrilled for words that Buddha has achieved this amazing milestone at just 23 months of age!!! Special thanks to Michael Brantley PHA for showing Buddha to this incredible win!

06/25/11 Buddha passed his OFA Echocardiogram at 22 months old! This is his 2nd official certification on his heart. He passed at 12 months via auscultation, and now that he is of mature age for heart screening he has also passed his ECHO.

06/15/11 We would like to introduce and welcome our newest girl, Tanakajd Szepe Paidra, to America! Paidra is a Zizi daughter, Toezzz granddaughter, and Signore Kwan great-granddaughter! She is a Hungarian and Croatian champion and has been shown at the most prestigious shows in Europe and rated Excellent every time. Paidra is co-owned with Lauren Parker of Illinois (Juno's mom). We are both very excited for the opportunity to own such a special girl and look forward to what the future will bring! 06/12/11 Buddha and Jedi showed at the Colorado Springs Kennel Club shows. Buddha was Best of Breed both days and Jedi was Best of Opposite! We are all very tired from our recent show weekends and are going to enjoy a few weeks off!

06/05/11 Jedi and Buddha showed at the Flat Irons Kennel Club shows in Longmont, CO. Buddha continued his streak with Best of Breed both days, while Jedi picked up 3 more points towards her CH! On Saturday she was Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners, and Sunday she was Winner's Bitch, Best of Winner's and again BEST OF OPPOSITE over a special! She now has 14 points after just two weekends out! 1 more point to go!

05/30/11 We traveled to Wyoming for 2 days of shows in Casper then on to two more days in Laramie. Buddha won Best of Breed all 4 days over a nice sized entry, picking up some great breed points! But the star of the weekend was Jedi! On Saturday she was Winner's Bitch for a 3 point major (her first AKC points!). Sunday she showed like a pro and won Winner's Bitch, Best of Winner's AND Best of Opposite over a special for a 5 point major!!! WooHoo! She finished the weekend with another Winner's Bitch on Monday for a 3 point major again. She earned 11 points this weekend and completed all her majors needed! SO proud of our little girl!

05/25/11 HUGE congrats to Buddha for reaching the new Bronze Achievement level for Grand Champion points (100 needed to qualify). He is one of two ddb in the country to have achieved this honor!

05/22/11 BIG congrats to Moses (CH Rising Star's I'll Fly Away) for completing his GRAND Championship title today in NC! We are so proud of Moses and his owners Pam and Vic Smith have done an outstanding job with him. We wish them continued success in the show ring!

05/22/11 Buddha traveled to Cortez, CO for the Durango Kennel Club shows. He won 3 Best of Breeds and made the cut in the Working Group!

05/21/11Congratulatoins to Gale Bandsma and Izzy for completing the requirements to earn the C.A.T. title with the AKC! Izzy is the first ddb in the country to have achieved this! Great job!

05/17/11 Buddha showed in Albuquerque, NM at the Rio Grande and Coronado Kennel Club shows. He won Best of Breed all 4 days!

05/13/11 Buddha is currently the #2 ddb in the country all systems! He is #2 on both breed and all breed points lists through April 30, 2011! And he is still not even 2 years old yet...Go Buddha!!!

05/08/11 Buddha traveled to South Jordan, UT for the Utah Valley Kennel Club shows. He won Best of Breed both days over a nice sized entry!

04/11/11 The weekend ended on a good note, with Buddha winning Best of Breed again at Day 2 of the Arrowhead Kennel Club show. Lucy was Best of Opposite and Bruiser was Select Dog. It was another family affair! Congrats to Ruth and Angie for their wins. Special thanks to Michael Brantley PHA for all his hard work and help this weekend!

04/10/11 Day 1 of the Arrowhead Kennel Club show was also our DDBSA National Day under judge Juergen Sauer of Germany. Best of Breed came down to Buddha and Crusader. It was very intense! In the end, the more mature dog won. Buddha ended up with the 1st Award of Merit. We are still so proud of our boy at just 20 months old to have been that closely considered for BOB! We congratulate Buddha's mom, Scarlet de Legeane, for winning Best Veteran, a Veteran Group 1 and Best Brood Bitch. Also, special recognition goes to Juno for placing 3rd in her class and to Moses for showing great all weekend!

04/09/11 Day 2 of the Kachina Kennel Club show, Bruiser won Select Dog again and completed his AKC Grand Championship! Great job Angie and Bruiser! This is Hugo's 5th GCH offspring!

04/08/11 continued...The night concluded with the DDBSA Awards Presentation. We were overwhelmed and honored to receive so many awards! For the 2nd year in a row, Hugo won "Sire of the Year 2010", and he also is the first recipient of the "Stud Dog of Merit" award! Zizi won "Dam of the Year 2010" and also was awarded "Dam of Merit"! Buddha received special recognition for his Eukanuba win as well as his Working Dog Level 1 award. Both Buddha and Isis received certificates and medallions for being in the Top 20 last year. Last but certainly not least, Rising Star received the "Breeder Medallion" award for 2010 (produced the most dogs with titles for the year) and we are the first recipient of the special Lifetime Achievement Award of "BREEDER OF EXCELLENCE"!!! Words cannot express the pride we feel in all of our accomplishments and to be recognized by our peers is so rewarding! We will post pictures of our lovely awards on this years Nationals Page in the weeks to come. A sincere Thank You to the DDBSA and its' members for everything!

04/08/11 After 6 weeks off from showing, we traveled to Glendale, AZ for a busy weekend with the DDBSA National Specialty and all breed shows. Day 1 of the Kachina Kennel Club was a good day for Buddha! He won Best of Breed over a large entry, while his brother and sister (Bruiser and Lucy) won Select Dog and Select Bitch! Buddha went on to receive a Group 4 in the Working Group! Such a thrill! He finished the day by winning the 2nd annual DDBSA Top 25 competition. Isis also showed in the Top 25 and received the 2nd highest score! It was an awesome day!

02/26/11 Congratulations to Rising Star's Juno Goddess of Joy for winning Best Puppy and Reserve Winners at the International Kennel Club show in Chicago, IL. Juno was also featured in the Chicago Tribune over the weekend. Great job to her owner Lauren Parker!

02/21/11 Buddha attended 5 days of shows at the Rocky Mountain Cluster in Denver, CO. He won 4 Best of Breeds and 1 Select Dog! He showed great considering the busy week he had with traveling home from NYC and then going straight into shows at home. We are very proud to announce Buddha's sister, Evergreen's Serenity River (Lucy), completed her AKC championship at these shows! Congratulations to her owner Ruth Greene and of course her breeder, Angie Reed.

02/15/11 Buddha and Isis attended the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog show in New York City. Buddha received the 1st Award of Merit at just 18 months of age! Special thanks to Michael Brantley PHA for handling Buddha at this event. We are so proud of our boy and cannot wait to go back next year when he is more mature. Additionally there were 5 Hugo kids entered in the show!

01/21/11 Buddha continued his travels to Portland, OR for the Tualatin Kennel Club and the Dog Fanciers Assoc of OR shows. He won Best of Breed all four days! Saturday was a DDBSA Supported entry show where he won this beautiful plaque! Go Buddha!

01/17/11 Buddha traveled to his hometown, Puyallup, WA, to show at the Western Washington Cluster. He won two Best of Breed's and one Best of Opposite! He got to spend time with his breeders, Angie & Scott Reed, and visit with lots of his fans.

01/09/11 Buddha started the year at the Kennel Club of Palm Springs shows in Indio, CA. He won Best of Breed both days!

12/05/10 Buddha won Best of Breed at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Dog Show!! And Isis won Best of Opposite Sex! Angie and Bruiser won Best Bred-by Exhibitor! THREE Hugo kids receive top honors at this prestigious invitational show!!! Our huge congrats and thanks to Angie & Scott Reed, Buddha's breeder. Bruiser also made the cut in the Bred-by Working Group! Buddha showed amazing and our heartfelt thanks go out to Michael Brantley for his excellent presentation of our boy!

12/03/10 Buddha showed at the shows in Long Beach, CA that preceded the Eukanuba weekend. He won Best of Breed on Wednesday and Friday and was Select dog on Thursday. Very proud of our boy! There was a large entry of CH males at these shows, so we are honored our young boy did so well.

11/18/10 Buddha has passed the Canine Good Citizen test! He now has the CGC title after his name, and can work in the Meet the Breed Booth at the upcoming Eukanuba National Championship Dog show. Good job Buddha!

11/15/10 Jedi attended her first show with Buddha in Pueblo, CO. She won the Bred-by class both days! Buddha was Best of Breed on Saturday, and Best of Opposite on Sunday to his sister Lucy. Congratulations to Ruth and Lucy on their back to back majors! Another Hugo daughter well on her way to becoming a Champion.

10/31/10 Happy Halloween from Bella and Bruno owned by the Pryor family in MN! Bella is from our G litter, and Bruno is from our H Litter. We simply love getting updates from these gorgeous dogues and adore their festive spirit!

10/25/10 We have another Grand Champion in the family! Congratulations to Gale Bandsma and Izzy for finishing her AKC Grand Championship this weekend at the Rapid City, SD shows!

10/24/10 Huge congrats to Hugo's son, Bogie (GCH CH Oak Hollow D'Star Bogilicious), for his Group 2 placement at the Lawton, OK shows! Bogie is bred and owned by Hilary Branscum of Oak Hollow Bordeaux. This is Hugo's third offspring to place in the AKC Working Group!

10/15/10 We are excited to announce we have been accepted into the new AKC Breeder of Merit Program!

10/12/10 Hugo, Isis and Buddha have all qualified and received invitations for the 2010 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship dog show! Hugo also has 6 additional offspring that qualified making a total of 8 Hugo kids!! Bruiser, Indy, Fiona, Bogie, Gigi and Izzy all received invitations as well. Congratulations Angie, Hilary, Cheryl and Gale!

10/03/10 Buddha showed at the Grand Valley Kennel Club shows in Grand Junction, CO and won Best of Breed all days!

09/26/10 Buddha and Isis showed at the DDBSA Central Supported entry shows held with the the Arapahoe Kennel Club in Aurora, CO. Buddha won Best of Breed both days and Isis was Best of Opposite on Saturday. Buddha's sister Lucy was Winner's Bitch, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite on Sunday! Congratulations Ruth!

09/16/10 Isis and Buddha have their GCH titles recorded by AKC now and are the #4 and #5 Grand Champions in the country!

09/12/10 Buddha and Isis showed at the Evergreen Colorado Kennel Club shows in Greeley, CO. Buddha won Best of Breed both days which completed his AKC Grand Championship! He also made the cut in Working Group on Sunday. Isis won Best of Opposite on Saturday which finished her AKC Grand Championship as well! She is the first female ddb in the country to achieve this! On Sunday she was Select Bitch. We could not be prouder of our two Hugo kids and are thrilled to be the first person to own TWO AKC GRAND CHAMPIONS!

09/08/10 Congratulations to Moses (CH Rising Star's I'll Fly Away) on his recent breed wins in Lexington, KY. Great job Pam and Vic!

09/06/10 Finally we have updated our website! Trying to compile all of the news and events from the last 18 months was very difficult, so I hope we didn't leave anything out! The new design and updating of all the existing pages was also challenging and hopefully nothing was missed. Please let us know if any broken links or non-working pages are found. We promise to keep things updated better going forward!

09/05/10 Isis and Buddha showed at the Cheyenne Kennel Club shows in Wyoming. Buddha won Best of Breed both days earning two majors towards his AKC Grand Championship! Isis was Best of Opposite both days and is now just 1 point shy of her Grand Champion title!

08/30/10 Buddha and Isis have passed their OFA Cardiac exams by a board certified cardiologist! They both qualify for a DDBSA Healthy Star Award!

08/22/10 Isis and Buddha showed at the Greeley Kennel Club shows. Isis was Best of Opposite both days, while Buddha brought home two Select Dog awards! They both earned more points towards their Grand Championships.

07/29/10 Happy 1st Birthday Buddha! It's hard to believe this BIG boy is only 12 months and still has lots of growing to do!

07/18/10 Buddha continued his adventures at the Roaring Fork Kennel Club shows in Eagle, CO. He won Best of Breed both days earning more points towards his Grand Championship. He is now back home and will be enjoying a month off from showing! Special thanks to Michael Brantley and Holly Leftwich for taking such good care of our boy and showing him to all of these wins in just 3 weeks of time!

07/11/10 Buddha continued his journey by showing at the Dallas, TX shows. Day 1 he won Best of Breed earning his first Grand Championship points! He went on that day to make the cut in a very large Working Group! Go Buddha! He ended the weekend by winning Select dog on Sunday.

07/04/10 While Buddha was showing in OKC, Isis showed in Loveland, CO at the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club shows. On Saturday she was Select, while her sister Izzy won Best of Breed! On Sunday Isis came back for Best of Breed, while Izzy was Select. Buddha's sister, Lucy, won Winner's Bitch and Best of Winners on Saturday earning her first point towards her AKC Championship! Congrats Ruth!

07/02/10 Buddha traveled to Oklahoma City for the Mid-Del-Tinker Kennel Club Shows and today became a new Champion! He won back to back Winner's Dog and Best of Winners for two 3 point majors from the puppy class!

06/30/10 Our J puppies have gone to their new homes! Welcome to the family Kristen & Bill Moore - new owners of Rising Star's Johnny Cash (Memphis) in Denver, Lauren & John Parker - new owners of Rising Star's Juno Goddess of Love (Juno) in Illinois and returning family members Craig & Wandisa Landry - new owners of Rising Star's Jambalaya (Jamba) in California. Rising Star's Jedi Mind Trick will be staying with us!

06/13/10 Buddha wins his first Best of Breed at the Colorado Springs Kennel Club shows on Saturday! From the puppy class he won Best of Breed beating 2 champions! He went on to win Best of Winners and Best of Opposite on Sunday. Isis was Best of Opposite on Saturday and Best of Breed on Sunday.

06/06/10 Buddha and Isis attended the Flat Irons Kennel Club shows in Longmont, CO. Buddha won Winner's Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite both days, while Isis came home with two Best of Breeds and more points towards her Grand Championship!

05/31/10 Isis and Buddha showed at the Laramie Kennel Club Shows. Isis was Best of Breed both days earning her first points towards her AKC Grand Championship with 2 majors! Buddha was Winner's Dog and Best of Opposite both days, and Best of Winners on Saturday. His sister Lucy (Evergreen's Serenity River owned by Ruth Greene) was Best of Winners on Sunday, and Izzy was Select both days.

05/07/10 We have another new champion in the family! Izzy owned by Gale Bandsma in WY completed her AKC Championship at the shows in South Jordan, UT.

04/26/10 Moses (CH Rising Star's I'll Fly Away) has passed his OFA Cardiac screening by a board certified cardiologist and has earned a DDBSA Healthy Star Award! Congrats Pam & Vic!

04/18/10 Hugo, Isis and Buddha traveled across country to Perry, GA for 3 days of AKC shows and the DDBSA National Specialty. Day 1, Buddha won his class and was Best Puppy! Day 2, Buddha surprised everyone and went Winner's Dog for a 5 pt major from the 6-9 puppy class! What a thrill! Hugo participated in the DDBSA Top 25 competition and collected his award for Sire of the year. Isis made the final cut 2 out of the 3 days for the breed competition at just 17 months old! Buddha won Best of Opposite Sex in our first annual Futurity Competition. For the National the big winners were Izzy and Moses! Rising Star's Izmos A Nyugat Kiralynoje won the 12-18 month class and went on to win Winner's Bitch for a 5 pt major! Rising Star's I'll Fly Away received an Award of Merit! Isis again made the final cut for the breed competition. All 4 of our I pups (Izzy, Moses, Tessa & Isis) received EXCELLENT ratings from FCI Judge Annette Wijnsouw of the Netherlands. Hugo ended the day by winning Best Stud Dog. All in all it was a great weekend for the Rising Star's!

04/11/10 Buddha and Isis showed at the Terry All Kennel Club in Brighton, CO. Buddha won Winners Dog and Best of Winners both days earning his first points towards his AKC Championship! Isis was Best of Opposite on Saturday and Best of Breed on Sunday!

03/14/10 More new champion news! Moses (Rising Star's I'll Fly Away) completed his Championship in Palm Beach, FL today. Congratulations to owners Vic & Pam Smith of TN for their hard work with this boy. This is the 4th of our I pups to earn this title!

03/06/10 Isis traveled to Scottsdale, AZ for 3 days of showing and visiting with family. She came home with two Best of Opposite and one Best of Breed win with tough competition!

02/16/10 Finally, we were able to compete at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! Hugo and Isis participated in this prestigious event along with Hugo's other offspring; Fiona, Bruiser and Indy. Isis was the youngest ddb entered and Hugo was the oldest. This was an experience of a lifetime and we are grateful to have been a part of it. HUGE congratulations to Fiona for her Best of Opposite Sex win!

02/13/10 Buddha makes his show ring debut at the Peak to Peak Working Dog show and Colorado Kennel Club shows in Denver, CO. He won Reserve Winner's Dog two of the days, and also a Best Puppy! Isis won Best of Opposite all three days she showed, prior to leaving for NYC!

11/08/09 We attended the Southern Colorado Kennel Club shows in Pueblo, CO. Fiona was the big winner this weekend with two Breed wins, while Hugo came home with two Best of Opposites.

10/31/09 Hugo qualifies for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show by being the #2 ddb in the country! He received a special invitation to our most prestigious dog show in the US.

10/23/09 Happy 1st Birthday to our I puppies!!

10/19/09 Hugo traveled to Northern CA for the Del Valle Kennel Club shows. This was a very special weekend for us. We got to see two of our I puppies, Koa and Izzy Donna, in addition to our human family! Koa won Winner's Dog and Best of Winners for 2 points towards his championship, while Hugo came home with two more Best of Breed wins.

10/08/09 Welcome our new addition....Evergreen's Rub My Belly at Rising Star...AKA Buddha!! Thank you Angie Reed for this beautiful boy. He is from the 2nd Hugo x Scarlet breeding. We have high hopes for this boy and can't wait to watch him grow!

09/13/09 We traveled to the 4 day shows in Farmington, UT. This was Isis first weekend out as a "special" and she came home with 3 Best of Opposite wins over older females. Hugo won Best of Breed all 4 days, which made him the #1 DDB IN THE COUNTRY per AKC breed stats!

09/06/09 Isis is a new AKC champion! She won Winner's Bitch both days for two 3 point majors at the Evergreen Kennel Club shows in Greeley, CO. Hugo took home the purple & gold ribbons again by winning Best of Breed both days.

08/30/09 Isis and Hugo traveled to Cheyenne, WY for two days of showing. Hugo was Best of Breed on Saturday, while Isis was Winner's Bitch and Best of Opposite. On Sunday, Isis won Winner's bitch and her very first Best of Breed beating her Dad!! Hugo was Best of Opposite.

08/16/09 Hugo and Isis showed once again at the Greeley Kennel Club shows. Isis won Winner's Bitch for a 3 pt major on Saturday from the Bred-by class! She was Reserve Winners on Sunday. Hugo shined again as Best of Breed winner both days.

07/29/09 Our friends at Evergreen Bordeaux have more Hugo babies! CH Scarlet de Legeane is the proud mother to 4 boys and 4 girls. This is a repeat breeding that produced some excellent and very successful dogues the first time. Angie and I are very excited to see what great things the 2nd litter will bring!

07/12/09 We traveled to Eagle, CO for the Roaring Fork Kennel Club shows. Hugo won Best of Breed both days over a large entry! On Saturday Izzy was Winner's Bitch and Best of Opp for a 4 point major! Congratulations Gale!

07/05/09 Hugo, Isis, Fiona and Izzy traveled to Dallas, TX for 3 days of showing with some tough competition. Hugo was Best of breed on Friday and Sunday. Fiona won Best of Breed on Saturday. Isis was Winner's Bitch all 3 days, while Izzy was Reserve Winners. The Colorado crew did very well!

06/28/09 Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club Shows in Loveland, CO. Hugo won Best of breed both days and Isis was Winner's Bitch for 2 more points towards her championship.

06/07/09 Hugo and Isis showed at the Colorado Springs Kennel Club shows. Hugo won Best of breed both days, while Isis was Winner's Bitch all weekend and Best of Winners on Sunday.

05/31/09 We attended the Flat Irons Kennel Club show in Longmont, CO. Hugo won Best of Breed both days and Isis was Winner's Bitch for another point towards her AKC Championship!

05/25/09 Hugo and Isis showed at the Laramie Kennel Club shows in WY. Isis was Winner's Bitch on Saturday for her first point, while her sister Izzy (owned by Gale Bandsma) was Winner's Bitch on Sunday. Hugo came home with two Best of Opposite wins, while his daughter Fiona was the big winner with two Best of Breeds and making the cut in Working Group on Sunday! Way to go Gale!

04/26/09 Zizi passed the ATTS test with flying colors and now has a TT title!

04/19/09 Isis, Inca and Zizi traveled to Missouri for the DDBSA National Specialty weekend. Three  more of our "I" puppies were in attendance (Moses, Izzy and Tessa), and three additional Hugo kids also (Bruiser, Indy & Fiona). Bruiser placed 2nd in Top 10 males while Fiona placed 4th in the female competition on Friday night. Saturday was the Puppy Match judged by Rafael Malo Alcrudo of Spain. Isis placed 1st place receiving the only female "Very Promising" rating and was Best of Opposite in Match! Tessa and Inca placed 2nd and 3rd behind her. Way to go I girls! Sunday was the main event also judged by FCI judge Alcrudo. Zizi rated EXCELLENT in the Best of Breed competition, and so did Fiona, Indy and Bruiser all come home with EXCELLENT ratings.

04/12/09 Zizi showed at the Terry All Kennel Club shows in Brighton, CO. She won Best of Opposite on Saturday.

03/07/09 Zizi finished her AKC championship by taking Winner's Bitch & Best of Breed at the Garden City, KS shows! Fiona also finished her Championship this weekend which makes the FOURTH AKC Champion offspring for our Hugo!! Big Congrats to Gale Bandsma of Buckaroo Bordeaux.

02/15/09 Zizi earned two 5 point majors and a Best of Opp win at the Peak to Peak Working Dog Assoc & Plum Creek Kennel Club shows in Denver, CO. In addition, Hugo's daughter Fiona picked up a 3 pt major at the CKC show and his son Bogie won a 4 pt major and BOS over a special. It was a great weekend for all!

01/10/09 We traveled to Puyallup, WA to visit with friends and attend shows. Hugo won Best of Breed at the Tacoma Kennel Club show. We got to spend time with two of Hugo's kids, Bruiser and Indy, this weekend which was a lot of fun. Special thanks to Angie Reed and all of her hospitality this weekend!

12/14/08 Hugo competed in the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Dog Show and won an Award of Excellence under FCI judge Carla Molinari of Portugal! We are very grateful to Michael Brantley PHA for presenting Hugo so beautifully at this first invitational event for the bordeaux.

10/19/08 Hugo and Shrek traveled to the Rapid City Kennel Club shows in SD. On Saturday Hugo was Winner's Dog & Best of Winner's for a 4 point major! This completed his AKC championship from the Bred-by class!!! Fiona was Reserve Winner's Bitch all 3 days, and Shrek was Reserve Winner's on Saturday. We also had the pleasure of visiting Mt. Rushmore on this trip.

10/07/08 We are proud to report that both Hugo and Shrek made the top 25 for the breed and are invited to the prestigious AKC/Eukanuba National Championship in Long Beach, CA! In addition, three of Hugo's offspring have also qualified (Evergreen's Big Bruiser, Evergreen's Indigo Skye & Evergreen's Prima Donna).

10/03/08 Hugo is a father again! Oak Hollow Bordeaux  has a repeat litter out of Serena. 3 girls and 1 boy, all doing great.

09/21/08 Our fourth show weekend in a row we traveled to Grand Junction, CO for the Grand Valley Kennel Club Shows. Hugo once again was Winner's Dog, Best of Winner's and Best of Breed both days, and Zizi picked up two more points winning Winner's Bitch and Best of Opposite. Shrek & Fiona were Reserve Winner's both days. Our heartfelt thanks to Gale Bandsma for all her help this weekend!

09/14/08 We traveled to Farmington, UT for the Bonneville Basin Kennel Club shows. Hugo was Winner's Dog, Best of Winner's and Best of Breed both days bringing home two more 3 point majors. Shrek and Zizi were Reserve Winner's both days. Special thanks and congrats to our friend Thiago Bezerra for Zuka's BOS wins and for handling Shrek for us at these shows.

09/07/08 At the Evergreen Colorado Kennel Club shows in Greeley, CO, Hugo was Reserve Winner's Dog both days. We are very proud and happy that Gale and Fiona took home two Reserve Winner's Bitch ribbons!

08/30/08 Hugo win's his second 3 pt major at the Saturday Cheyenne Kennel Club show. He was Winner's Dog, Best of Winner's and Best of Breed. Zizi was Reserve Winner's both days.

08/17/08 Shrek, Hugo and Zizi showed at the Greeley Kennel Club shows. On Saturday, Shrek was Winner's Dog, Best of Winner's and Best of Breed for another 3 point major. Hugo & Zizi were both Reserve Winner's that day. On Sunday, from the Bred-by class, Hugo was Winner's Dog, Best of Winner's and Best of Breed for a 3 point major and his first AKC win! Zizi was Winner's Bitch and Best of Opposite earning her first AKC points, while Shrek was Reserve Winner's Dog. Also, Fiona was Reserve Winner's Bitch on this day. 07/13/08 Shrek and Zizi showed in their first AKC shows as a fully recognized breed! At the Roaring Fork Kennel Club shows in Eagle, CO Shrek was Winner's Dog, Best of Winner's and Best of Breed both days, taking home two 3 point majors! Fiona (Hugo daughter) owned by Gale Bandsma won Winner's Bitch and BOS on Saturday picking up her first AKC and DDBSA Major win! Zuka owned by our friend Thiago Bezerra won BOS on Sunday. Zizi was reserve winners both days.

04/27/08 Shrek, Hugo & Zizi attended the DDBSA National Specialty in Loveland, CO. As well as 6 of Hugo's offspring! Shrek placed 2nd in the Top 10 competition and 4th in the American Bred class. Hugo placed 4th in the Bred-by class. Zizi had her first US show experience. The highlight of the weekend was Hugo's son, Evergreen's Big Bruiser, winning Best of Opposite Sex at just 12 months of age!! Hugo's other kids - Fiona, Bogie, Dolce, Gigi and Indy also did very well. It was great to see everyone again. Shrek & Fiona also won least original costume. 11/18/07 Shrek showed at the UKC High Plains KC shows in Aurora, CO. He won three Best of Breeds, a Group 2 and a Group 3 in a group of 12 Guardian breeds!! These wins earned him the last points needed towards his DDBSA GRAND Championship!! Congratulations Shrek on being one of the few dogues in the US to have earned this honor.

09/30/07 Shrek attended the UKC shows in Loveland, CO. He won three Best of Breeds, a Group 2, Group 3 and Group 4! It was a large group so we were honored to place in each show.

09/23/07 The boys showed at the ARBA Rocky Mountain Classic in Longmont, CO. Hugo came home with four Best if Breed's and two Group 4's, while Shrek took one Best of Breed and a Group 3. We were all still warn out from the long drive and TT test from the day before.

09/22/07 Shrek and Hugo passed their ATTS Temperament Test!! This completes the boys' DDBSA Working Dog Levels (1-2-3) and earns them the title of DDBSA Working & Conformation Champions of Merit!! We are very proud of both boys. We have now put TT titles on eight of our dogues!!

09/09/07 Hugo wins Best of Breed & Best Stud Dog at the DDBSA Central Regional Specialty B Match in Greeley, CO! Congratulations to Hugo's son and daughter on their wins at this show. Oak Hollow D'Star Bogilicious won the Best of Breed Puppy award and Evergreen's Prima Donna was the Best of Opposite Puppy winner. Shrek placed 1st in the Open class and he and Hugo were the Best Brace team. At the two AKC shows following (Evergreen Colorado Kennel Club), Hugo won Best of Opposite on Saturday, and Best of Breed and Best in Miscellaneous class on Sunday. We are very proud of Hugo and his kids!!!

07/22/07 Shrek attended the Twin Peaks UKC shows in Longmont, CO. In 4 out of the 5 shows he won Best of Breed and placed in Group each time. Shrek got one Group 2, two Group 3's and a Group 4.

07/07/07 The boys showed at the Rarities Rocky Mountain Classic. Shrek won one BOS, a Best of Breed and a Group 2! Hugo won two Best of Breed's, a Group 2, Group 1 and a Reserve Best in Show! Hugo's daughter (Evergreen's Prima Donna owned by Hil & Amy) made her show ring debut and won 4 Best of Breed puppy awards. It was a very fun weekend for all!

07/01/07 Shrek & Hugo showed at the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club AKC shows in Loveland, CO. On Saturday Hugo won Best of Breed over 6 ddb and earned his third and final major towards his DDBSA Championship! He went on to take Best in Misc class with competition. 05/02/07 We are home from the 10th Annual DDBSA National Specialty weekend in Shelton, WA.  The highlight of the weekend was Rising Star's Diamond in the Rough wining 1st place in Open female, Best female and Best of Opposite!!! We are so proud of Angie & Diamond! Shrek placed 3rd in the first ever top 10 competition and he also passed his TDI test. Hugo placed 2nd in bred-by male with an Excellent rating. Hugo also received an award for the Most Best in Shows in 2006 in the DDBSA! Haley was 1st place Veteran female with an Excellent rating, and also Best in Show Veteran and Best Brood Bitch! The boys were 2nd place in the brace competition, and Rising Star's Feroz Achilles was 3rd place American Bred male. 11/14/06 Hugo traveled to Poznan, Poland to attend the FCI World Dog show where he competed in the Intermediate class.  He also showed at the Polish ddb club match in Sierakow. The trip was a great opportunity to exhibit our boy on a new level, and we learned a great deal along the way.

* 10/01/06 Shrek & Hugo showed at the Frontier Belgium club UKC shows in Golden, CO. Shrek won three Best of Breed's, two Group 2's and a Group 3. Hugo took one Breed and a Group 4. Way to go boys!

09/20/06 Rising Star's Dominique has passed her OFA Hips, Elbows & Patellas at 44 months of age! Domi, owned by Larry & Diane Miller, received an OFA Rating of Fair as well as a PennHip score of .44/.44 with NO DJD. Click here  to see her OFA results. Domi is a 3rd generation Rising Star female who has passed OFA hips! She also recently had an echocardiogram performed and was cleared for breeding.

09/10/06 The boys showed at their 3rd weekend of AKC shows with the Evergreen Kennel Club in Greeley, CO. Once again, Hugo took Breed on Saturday...and Shrek won on Sunday. There seems to be a pattern developing. :o)

09/08/06 We have new pictures of Rising Star's Feroz Achilles owned by Hugo Lujan of AZ. Achilles is now 2 years old and getting ready for his first AKC shows.

09/03/06 Shrek & Hugo showed at the ARBA Rocky Mountain Classic weekend. Hugo gave us our best show weekend ever!!! He won 4 Best of Breed's, one Group 3, THREE Group 1's, One Reserve Best in Show and TWO BEST IN SHOWS!! All of this earned him the "Best in Classic" award, which is given to the dog who earns the most points over the weekend. If all of that wasn't enough, Hugo also completed his ARBA Championship title. We were ecstatic with Hugo's wins at this show. Sunday's Best in Show was under an FCI judge from Sweden who has judge ddb all over the world. In addition, on Saturday Shrek won a Best of Breed, Group 1 and a RESERVE BEST IN SHOW!! To have both boys take Group under some very nice competition was awesome. This weekend was fantastic on so many different levels. We are so proud of both of our boys!!!

 08/26/06 Congratulations to Diamond on her Best of Opposite win at the DDBS NW Regional Specialty!!! Rising Star's Diamond in the Rough, owned by Scott & Angie Reed beat 6 females at the Rarities shows in WA for the 1st & 3rd shows (regional specialty). 08/20/06 The boys showed at the Greeley Kennel Club shows in Greeley, CO. For the second weekend in a row, Hugo took Breed on Saturday and Shrek on Sunday.  We also did a Meet the Breed booth all weekend and had a great time introducing the AKC crowd to the ddb.

08/13/06 Shrek & Hugo attended their first AKC shows! Hugo won Best of Breed on Saturday and Shrek won Best of Breed on Sunday at the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club shows in Ft. Collins, CO.

07/26/06 Happy 2nd birthday to our G Litter! It's hard to believe it has been two years already. Thank you to the Pryor family for sending these new pictures of their Bella (Gizi) celebrating her big day. :)

07/16/06 The boys showed at the Twin Peaks UKC show in Longmont, CO. Shrek came home with four Best of Breed's, a Group 3 & a Group 4.

07/10/06 Shrek & Hugo attended the Rarities show in Greeley, CO which hosted the DDBS Central Regional Specialty. Shrek placed 1st in Open Male, then went on to get Winner's Dog and Best of Opp for the specialty! This major win earned Shrek his DDBS Championship!! Also, Hugo and Shrek together earned the Best Brace award. On Sunday, Hugo received two Best of Breed's and two Group 2's. We are very proud of our boys!

06/25/06 Shrek & Hugo showed at an AKC B Match in Brighton, CO. Hugo took BOB and Shrek passed his Canine Good Citizen!

04/15/06 Happy Easter! These are two adorable new pics of Bella & Bruno.

04/10/06 Hugo attended the 2006 DDBS National Specialty in Charlotte, NC. He had a very good weekend! He passed his Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog Int'l testing earning him the first two DDBS Working dog titles. He also was the Costume Contest winner! For conformation he placed FIRST in the 12-18 month class with an EXCELLENT rating. Last but not least, Hugo received an award for being the DDBS #4 male in points for 2005 and the #5 overall for the year. We are extremely proud of Hugo and can't wait for his next show! Callisto also showed this weekend and placed THIRD in the Champion Male class. Bahama's daughter, Misty, showed this weekend too and placed THIRD in a large Open Class.

04/08/06 Happy 8th Birthday Duncan & Diddle! Looking forward to many more years with my boys. Also Happy Birthday to Beren, Phillipe and all the others!

* 03/20/06 Hugo showed at the IABCA show in Greeley, CO. He earned his third IABCA youth title with all Excellent ratings and critiques. He also received four Group 2 placements (amongst AKC breed competition) and finished the weekend with a BEST IN SHOW Rare Breed Puppy. Shrek came along for Sunday only and finished his adult IABCA National & Int'l titles, as well as receiving a Group 1, Group 2 and a RESERVE BEST IN SHOW Rare Breed Adult!!! We are very proud of both boys.

03/11/06 Hugo has earned his UKC championship! He showed one day at the High Plains Kennel Club UKC show in Kiowa, CO and completed his last major. This is Hugo's first "adult" championship title.

11/19/05 Hugo attended a UKC show in Elbert, CO. He earned two Best of Breeds and two Group 3's. At just 10 months of age, Hugo defeated multiple adults in the working group competition and earned two out of three majors needed towards his UKC championship.

10/30/05 Achilles showed at the Phoenix UKC show this weekend and placed first in his class all 4 shows.

10/11/05 HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY TO OUR B LITTER!!  Today is a very special day for Bella, Haley, Bahama, Beau and all the others.

10/09/05 Shrek & Hugo attended the NCA show in Aurora, CO. This was our first time showing with this organization. Shrek did very well this weekend! He earned three BOB's, one Group 2, two Group 1's and a SUPREME Group 1. We were fortunate enough to have some ddb competition this weekend which earned Shrek two of the three majors needed for his DDBS Championship. Hugo came home with 2 Reserve Winner's Dogs. This definitely was Shrek's weekend to shine!!

10/02/05 Hugo showed at the IABCA show in Greeley, CO. He earned his JA Championship and received multiple group placements with tough competition. Between the regular and bred-by working Groups he came home with three Group 1's, two Group 2's and one Group 3. He finished the weekend on a high note by winning a Reserve Best in Show Bred-by Puppy and a BEST IN SHOW RARE BREED Puppy!!! Shrek came for Sunday only and received a Group 2 and a Group 3. We were very proud of both boys this weekend!

09/04/05 Hugo attended the ARBA Rocky Mountain Classic. He came home with 5 Winner's dogs, 4 Best of Opps, 1 Best of Breed and a Group 4. This show weekend leaves Hugo over half way towards his ARBA Championship at just 8 months old! His sister, Hemi, also attended on Saturday and came home with 2 Reserve Winner's.

* 08/01/05 Rising Star's Diamond in the Rough is a new DDBS Champion! She earned her last major at the ARBA show in WA. She took three out of four Best of Breeds and multiple group placements. Congrats to Angie & Scott Reed on Diamond's latest title!

07/17/05 Hugo attended the Twin Peaks UKC show in Longmont, CO and came home with 4 Best of Breed's! This was Hugo's first official show as an "adult" and we are already looking forward to getting him in the ring again.

07/05 New Health screens are in! Diamond is the first DDB in the OFA database to be recorded with a "normal" rating for Shoulders. Fruzsi also has a new OFA Shoulder certification on file. 04/17/05 Come and visit our Nationals page and learn all about our Rising Star results!! We are overjoyed to report we had 7 Rising Star dogues in attendance and 6 of them placed with EXCELLENT ratings under FCI licensed judges Madame Helene Denis and Monsieur Benoit Thevenon of France. The highlight of the show for us was Bella winning 1st place Champion female, Best Female and Best of Opposite sex!!! 04/10/05 Doogie (Rising Star's Ferdinand Le Bull) has received passing OFA prelim hip & elbow results! His hips have been evaluated as GOOD and elbows NORMAL at 8 months of age.

03/20/05 Hugo made his show ring debut at the IABCA show in Greeley, CO. He came home with multiple group placements and a Reserve Best in Show Rare Breed Puppy!! Against older AKC breeds he received two Group 1's, two Group 2's and three Group 3's. He also earned his IABCA BA champion title. We are very proud of the heffalump's first show! Bella came along for the ride and also came home with a Group 2 & a Group 3.

11/14/04 Hugo & Achilles attended the DDBS SW Regional Specialty at the ARBA Hollywood Classic. They placed 3rd in the puppy class. We are very proud of them both, and hope they keep up the good work!

10/31/04 Rising Star's Feroz Achilles attended his first show! Congrats to Hugo & Achilles for taking four Novice Puppy Best of Breed's at the Phoenix UKC show. We are very proud of them and hope they had a wonderful time!

  10/10/04 Bella and Doogie attended the IABCA show in Loveland, CO. Doogie came home with two Group 3's, one Group 2 and a Reserve BEST IN SHOW Rare Breed Puppy!! He did great this weekend and we are proud of how he is maturing. Bella had a rewarding weekend as well. Not only did she get a Group 3 in a very large, impressive working group (akc & rare breeds) but she won BEST IN SHOW Rare Breed Adult. Bella continues to be our absolute pride and joy.

09/18/2004 Doogie debuted his show career at the ARBA Rocky Mountain Classic which hosted the DDBS Central Regional Specialty. He came home with four BOB Puppy wins, two Group 2's, two Group 1's and two Reserve Best in Show puppy awards. He is the 2004 DDBS Central Best of Breed Puppy Winner!! Congratulations to MJ and Doogie on their first show!!! Bella came along for the ride and became the BOS winner for the regional. She also received three BOB's, a Group 1, a Group 2 and a Group 4.

09/05/04 Bella goes to France!! Bella attended the 2004 SADB National Specialty held on Sept 5th in the HAM region of France.  She received an EXCELLENT rating in a large open class and passed the TAN test. It was a dream come true to show our girl at the world's largest ddb show!!!

08/01/04 Bella & Shrek showed at the Rarities show in Denver, CO.  This was Bella's first regular show of the year and she proved she is not yet ready for retirement! She came home with three Best of Breeds, a Group 3, two Group 1's and TWO RESERVE BEST IN SHOWS!!!  One of her Breed wins was under DDBS Sanctioned judge Stuart Rogell.   Shrek came home with one Winner's Dog & Best of Opposite, and a reserve winner's.

07/25/04 We just received the news that Rising Star's Diamond in the Rough is the 2004 DDBS NW Regional Specialty winner!! Not only did she take Best of Breed at the regional but she went on to win a Group 1!!! We are so proud of Diamond, and cannot thank Angie Reed enough for all of the hard work she has put into this girl.

05/04 Callisto is a new DDBS Champion!! He earned his 3rd major at the April UKC show in Southern CA. He took Best of Breed and a Group 3 at this show. HUGE congrats to Paul & Raj for all of their hard work with this boy.

05/01/04 Duncan is recovering wonderfully from his scary ordeal with Inflammable Bowel Disease & Salmonella. He has been very ill for 6 months, but we are happy to report he has recently gained back 15 lbs! We attribute his improvement to weekly acupuncture treatments as well as some wonderful supplements from B-naturals.com. We are grateful for all of the support we received from our ddb friends during this difficult time.

04/28/04 We have received confirmation via ultrasound that Haley is pregnant!! Puppies are due June 1st. Please click HERE to learn more about this exciting and much anticipated litter. Please note all puppies from this breeding are spoken for.

04/25/04 Shrek attended the UKC show in Loveland, CO and is a new UKC CHAMPION!! He earned his 3rd and final major at the weekends first show, and then debuted the remaining two shows in the Champion class by earning two Reserve Champion of Champion placements. Way to go Shreky Bear!!!

03/28/04 DDBS National Specialty Show in Henderson, NV with judges Giuseppe Novaresio & Rolando Balestrini of Italy. The Rising Star's shined bright! Bella received multiple conformation awards at the annual meeting including #1 female for the year 2003 and #2 female overall in the history of the club!! Fruzsi was not far behind with #2 female awarded for 2003 in conformation points. Yeah girls! Shrek made his momma proud by placing FIRST in the 12-18 month class and receiving an EXCELLENT rating. We are so thrilled with his placement at the nations largest ddb show! His sister Diamond also did great by placing 3rd in her class (congrats Angie & Scott Reed!), AND she passed her CGC & TDI earning her the DDBS WD1 & 2 working titles! Dominique showed beautifully, and received 2nd place in the costume contest (Yeah Diane & Larry Miller!). She looked GREAT! Bella participated in the first ever Regional Best of Breed class, and placed 4th in the Champion Female class under TOUGH competition. It was a beautiful line up of the countries top bitches, and we were honored to place and receive an EXCELLENT rating. Callisto moved beautifully and strutted his stuff to a 2nd place in the HUGE open male class, also receiving an EXCELLENT rating. This boy is just 2 years old and has placed in the top two of the open class at nationals 2 years in a row (the largest class at the show)! Fruzsi received a wonderful critique and many compliments throughout the weekend. She is looking forward to redeeming herself at next years show!!! Simba's son Beasley was also in attendance and received an EXCELLENT rating in the Champion male class. It was great to see Pam Smith & Beasley again!! All in all it was a wonderful weekend and I'd like to thank the Rising Star family for their wonderful support & hard work. See above for a few pictures from this show.

03/21/04 Shrek has earned his first championship title! He showed at the IABCA show in Greeley, CO and completed his IABCA jha Championship. He also earned two Group 2's this weekend.

11/15/03 At the USBC Nationals, Fruzsi placed 1st in the Open class! She also took Winner's Bitch at two of the weekends ARBA shows including under Madame Ann Marie Class of France. Both French judges rated her as EXCELLENT. 

11/15/03 Rising Star's Dominique owned by Diane & Larry Miller won Best of Breed Youth at the USBC National Specialty under FCI judge Madame Christine Lafay!! We could not be happier for Diane & Domi and were thrilled to be there to cheer them on.

11/15/03 Rising Star's Callisto owned by Raj Weerakkody showed at the USBC Nationals and rated EXCELLENT in a very tough Open Male class.

11/12/03 It's official! Our very own pride & joy Rising Star's Bella Donna has been awarded the highest honor of the DDBS Supreme Grand Championship!!! Bella is the FIRST female to hold this title, and is only the third dogue ever in the history of the club. We could not be more thrilled to see all of our hard work pay off in this way, and the bond that Jen & Bella share makes it all the more worth while. Awesome!!

11/09/03 Rising Star's Diamond in the Rough owned by Scott & Angie Reed earned her IABCA JA (Youth) Championship at the Enumclaw, WA show this weekend. Diamond also took two Best of Breeds with competition earning her first two majors towards her DDBS Championship! We are so proud of Angie & Diamond!!!

10/15/03 We just received confirmation that Bella is a new ARBA Master Champion! This is Bella's 12th conformation title.  :)

09/28/03 Bella & Fruzsi attended the UKC dog show in Loveland, CO. Bella took two Best of Breed's and two Group 2's, while Fruzsi took one BOB and a Group 3. The girls also won two Best in Show Brace awards and one Reserve BIS.  The highlight of the weekend was both girls passing their Therapy Dog International certification on Sunday afternoon! This makes them both "TDI" dogs and completes all of their DDBS Working Dog level championships. Once the paperwork is final, this will also make Bella the FIRST and ONLY female to become a DDBS Supreme Grand Champion!! We could not be prouder of our Bella Donna. She truly is a shining star!!!

09/21/03 Rising Star's Empire Strikes Back (owned by Lenard Clayton & Paul Sunseri) takes Best of Breed Puppy at the DDBS South West Regional Specialty! He also went on to take two Reserve Best in Show puppy awards. Congratulations T-Bone on your show debut!

09/20/03 We traveled to Peyton, CO to participate in an ATTS Temperament test held by the Pikes Peak Obedience club. We are very happy to report that both Fruzsi & Haley passed and now hold the "TT" title after their names. Way to go girls!

09/13/03 The first annual DDBS Central Regional was held in Colorado at the ARBA show with judge Ms. Linda Sparks. Best of Breed went to our very own Rising Star's Bella Donna! Bella also won Best Brood Bitch and was part of the Best Brace team (Fruszi was the other half). Shrek won Reserve Winner's Dog, and Fruzsi won Reserve Winner's bitch.  The 2nd show Fruzsi went on to take Best of Breed and a Group 3! Bella ended up taking the rest of the weekends BOB wins and group placements. Last but not least Shrek received 4 points towards his ARBA Championship. 

09/07/03 Bella, Callisto & Tommy (Rising Star's Cactus Jack) went to the Rarities show in Anaheim, CA. Callisto took his first Best of Breed and a Group 2 at the Sat AM show! Then he went on to take Best of Opp the 2nd show earning him two DDBS majors that day.  Bella ended up with 4 BOB's a Group 2 and a Group 3. She also passed a Rarities sponsored temperament test which makes this her 3rd TT title!

09/04/03 Bella and Callisto attended the Club Canofilo Caliente FCI show in Tijuana, Mexico.  Bella received an "EXCELLENT" rating both days and earned two Reserve CACM's.  Callisto also earned one R.CACM.

08/04/03 Bella is a pin up girl! She is featured in the 2004 Brown Trout Calendar for the month of May. A very young Bella (13 months old) was photographed two years ago by a local photographer at a dog show, and we have just learned her picture was chosen!

* 08/03 Bella has passed her seventh and final health test (VonWD screening), which makes her the newest seven star dogue for the DDBS! Rising Star now has TWO seven star dogues produced by US!

07/28/03 Bella's OFA Hip results are in, and she has scored a FAIR rating at 45 months of age. This is the 3rd dog from our "B" litter to pass her OFA hips. This qualifies her to receive her Healthy Star for hips AND makes her one step closer to being the first ever female of the breed to receive the DDBS Supreme Grand Championship. We are only one working dog test away from this major achievement. 

* 07/25/03 Congratulations to Haley for being the newest SEVEN star dogue in the DDBS Healthy Stars Program!!!

07/20/03 The three day annual UKC Western Premier Classic has wrapped up in Longmont, CO.  Out of 5 shows, our dogues came home with 4 Best of Breeds, and Bella received two Group 2's! Fruzsi won her first ever adult Best of Breed on Saturday morning, earning her first DDBS major win! Shrek made his debut appearance in the adult classes by taking Winner's Dog and Best of Winner's on Friday. Way to go Shreky Bear! Diva managed to get some good ring experience as she bounced around the ring commanding everyone's attention on her. She is a true DIVA! 

07/05/03 Haley's OFA results are back and she has scored a GOOD rating at 44 months of age! This makes her our 2nd "Rising Star" to have an official OFA Good rating.  She also has passed her OFA elbows, patellas, cardiac and thyroid exam.  

06/29/03 Congratulations to Rising Star's Diamond in the Rough on her first show weekend as an "adult".  At the Rarities show in WA she took 4 Best of Breed's (with competition) and FOUR Group 1's in a large working group. Diamond is owned by Angie & Scott Reed. I am so proud of both Diamond and Angie on this awesome weekend!

06/12/03 Bella travels to Michigan to compete in the UKC Premier Top 10 invitational competition. We could not be prouder with how she did. First she took Best of Breed in the top 10, and then went on to the semi final round. Out of 19 dogs, she made the top 4 which sent her to the final round. The final round consisted of the top 20 dogs in the show, and they only awarded placement to the overall top 10. We are honored to report that Bella placed 9th overall!!! This is a first for a bordeaux to place in this stellar event!!! There were 393 of the UKC's top all breed dogs participating in this event, and Bella beat 385 of them. On top of all that she made the local news that day. Bella is our pride and joy and certainly did us proud on this day! 

06/03/03 Fruzsi returns from Europe! We are proud to say that our Fruzsi participated in the World Dog show in Dortmund, Germany. She received an EXCELLENT rating, and out of 26 dogs in her class, she made it to the top 6. The following day, at the German Club Match in Essen, Germany, she took 2nd place in the youth class beating the female who won the World Youth CH and the French Nationals Youth class!! The judge for this show was president of the SADB, Sylviane Tompousky. We are so thrilled with how Fruzsi placed at this show!

05/24/03 Callisto is a new ARBA Champion! Big congrats to Raj and Paul for getting this boy his first adult title at just 18 months old.

05/03 We're off to Europe! Fruzsi will be attending the World Dog Show in Dortmund, Germany. Her breeder is anxious to see her again and has great hope for her at this show. She will also get to participate in the German Molloser club show in Essen, Germany before coming back to the US. We plan to take a lot of pictures and to see some potential stud dogs up close and personal. 

05/03 Congrats to Rising Star's Diamond in the Rough (owned by Scott & Angie Reed of WA) on her new IABCA BA title and her TWO group 3 placements at the show in Hillsboro, Oregon.

05/03 Bella has completed the requirements for her DDBS GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP!!! This makes her the second female EVER to obtain this title! Way to go Bella Donna. :-)

04/27/03 Bella, Fruzsi, Haley, Diva & Shrek participated at the UKC St. Vrain Dog Club show in Loveland, CO. Haley is a new UKC Champion! Fruzsi earned her first point towards her UKC Grand Ch. Bella took 3 Best of Breed's, 2 Group 3's and her FIRST ever Group 1 at an all-breed show! Shrek made his debut with 3 Best of breed Puppy awards, while Diva came home with one.  

04/13/03 DDBS Nationals Results. It was a GREAT weekend for the Rising Star's! Diva placed 2nd in the 3-6 female class, while Diamond placed 3rd. Dominque showed great also in that class and made us proud. Callisto placed 2nd in Open Male with some HUGE competition. Haley placed FIRST in the Novice class. Fruzsi placed FIRST in Open female and went on to win RESERVE Best Female in Show!!! Bella placed 2nd in the Champion class with some VERY tough competition as well. Diddle placed 2nd in spay/neuter (what a site that was!) and Bella & Fruzsi took Reserve Best Brace in Show. Prior to this event we had never placed higher than 3rd at a National Show. We left Texas with two 1st's, six 2nd's and one 3rd place. OUTSTANDING! Fruzsi also passed her Canine Good Citizen test at the show.

April 12-13 * Come see us at the 2003 DDBS National Specialty in Hutto, TX! Callisto, Bella, Haley, Fruzsi, Diddle, Diamond, Dominique, Diva, Shrek & Beasley will all be making an appearance at the nations largest ddb show.  For more information about this show please click HERE.  We are looking forward to a great weekend and hope to have lots of news and pictures to post soon after!

** 03/03 Bella, Fruzsi & Haley participated at the IABCA show in Greeley, CO.  All 3 girls earned their IABCA championship titles. Fruzsi came home with 3 Best of Breed Puppy awards, while Bella took 3 Best of Breed Adults. This was Bella's first "postpartum" show debut and she ended the weekend with a bang by taking a Reserve Best in Show Rare Breed! Bella is back and ready to shine some more.

* 03/03 Fruzsi & Haley competed at the UKC show in Kiowa, CO.  We are proud to announce that Fruzsi is now a UKC CHAMPION! We hope this title is the first of many to come.  Haley earned her first points towards her UKC CH as well out of the bred-by class.

02/03 Bahama's final OFA hip evaluation is back and the rating is GOOD !! We are very excited and proud of our first home bred OFA Good rating.

* 01/03 Callisto begins the year by earning 4 points towards his ARBA Championship at the Golden Nugget Classic in Claremont, CA.

* 11/02 Bella and Fruzsi compete at the UKC show in Kiowa, CO. Bella won three Best of Breeds, a Group 2 and two Group 4's.  This last UKC show of the year for us put Bella at the #1 Dogue de Bordeaux in the UKC for 2002!  She is the first female to hold this honor.  

11/02 Bahama and Callisto attended the DDBS South Central Regional in Claremont, CA.  Bahama came home with Reserve Winner's Bitch, while Callisto took Reserve Winner's Dog! 

09/02 Callisto became an IABCA JA Champion at the Vallejo, CA show. Bahama achieved her UCICB Adult IABCA title and won Best "Zuchtgruppe" (Breeders Group). 

*09/02 Duncan, Fruzsi and Bella competed at the UKC show in Greeley, CO.  Duncan completed his UKC Championship!  Fruzsi became 2/3 of the way closer to her first championship.  And last but not least, our Bella Donna earned her UKC GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP!

09/02 Bella competes in the ARBA Rocky Mountain Classic and reaches new heights! She won her first BEST IN SHOW! In addition, she took a Reserve Best in Show, two Group 1's and three Group 2's. As if all of that was not enough, she also completed her ARBA championship and became the #1 female ddb in ARBA for 2002! This best in show win was a dream come true for us at Rising Star!!!

09/02 Callisto travels to France to attend the SADB National Specialty. He passed the T.A.N. test with an EXCELLENT rating at only 11 months old. He also received the highest possible rating for a puppy and got a great critique. Callisto handled the traveling abroad like a pro! We are so pleased with his easy going temperament and cannot thank Raj enough for the great job he has done in raising him.

* 08/02 Bella is currently the #1 female Dogue de Bordeaux in Rarities! She is also the #3 for the breed with them.  Way to go Bella Donna!  Click HERE to go to the Rarities show points for 2002.

07/02 Bella and Fruzsi traveled to Hutto, TX for the Rarities show.  What a weekend it was for the girls!  Bella received four Best of Breeds, three Group 2nd's and one Group 3rd.  In doing so she earned her Rarities International, American and Canadian championships!!!  Fruzsi received two Best of Breed Puppy's, two Group 1st's.....and a BEST IN SHOW!  In addition, she won Best of Opposite sex for the DDBS South Central Regional show!  We are EXTREMELY proud of both girls.  They really were shining stars this weekend.

07/02 Bella and Fruzsi competed in the UKC Western Classic in Longmont, CO.  Fruzsi won six Winner's Bitch placements...while Bella took six Best of Breeds, three Group 3rd's and one Group 4th.

04/02 Bella competed in the UKC show in Loveland, CO.  She took two out of three Best of Breeds and two 2nd places in the Guardian group.  Bella is two more points closer towards her UKC Grand Championship.  Only one more point to go...

04/02  Bella and Callisto attended the DDBS National Specialty in Carlisle, PA.  Bella received an EXCELLENT rating and placed 3rd in the Bred by Exhibitor class.  Callisto placed 3rd in the 3-6 month puppy class.  For a list of complete show results click HERE. 

* 03/02  Bella competed in the UKC show in Kiowa, CO.  Bella took a Best of Breed over seven dogues and placed 3rd in the Guardian Group.  She also earned 2 of the 5 points needed for her UKC Grand Championship.

01/02  Rising Star's Callisto (owned by Raj Weerakkody) competed in the ARBA Golden Nugget Classic and won a BEST in Show Puppy and also a Reserve BEST in Show Puppy.  Callisto was handled by Paul Sunseri.  Awesome job Raj and Paul!  What a way to start a show career.

12/01  HAPPY HOLIDAYS from Rising Star Bordeaux!!!!

* 11/01 Bella attended the ARBA Hollywood Classic in Claremont, CA.  She won the Open Class 3 out of the 4 shows and earned two Winner's Reserves and one Winner's bitch...taking her one point closer towards her ARBA Championship.  She also passed the CGC test at this show.

07/01 Bella competes in her first UKC show in Colorado.  Over the weekend she won 4 Best Female awards, 4 Best of Winners and two Best of Breeds with a Group 3 !  Competing against 8 other bordeaux she earned enough points to complete her UKC championship AND her DDBS Championship!  Congratulations to our newest CHAMPION!

04/01 Duncan, Simba, Mufi, Bahama and Bella all participated in the DDBS National Specialty.  For a complete list of all results click HERE.  Congratulations to Simba for his Best Veteran title!  He rated EXCELLENT at 6 1/2 years old!!  Mufi, also rated Excellent, received the Best Female Veteran Award and her daughters Bella and Bahama also got EXCELLENT critiques in the Open Female class.  Bella placed 4th with some really tough competition.  Simba's sons Beasley and Barry also earned Excellent ratings.  We are proud of all of our dogues accomplishments at this wonderful event!

04/01 Duncan, Simba, Mufi, Bella and Beasley all passed the ATTS Temperament test.

  02/01  We proudly announce that Hidden Valley's Red Wing Calypso has completed his DDBS championship at the young age of 16 months old!  Congratulations Pam & Vic on this wonderful accomplishment.  Simba is very proud of his son!

05/00 DDBS National Specialty - Bella receives a PROMISING rating under French Judge Andre Leblond, and places 4th in her class at the Puppy Sweepstakes.

* Duncan and Bella both pass the ERBDC Temperament test and earned their TT titles.  Duncan completes his DDBS Working Dog Level 3 certification.

  05/00 Bahama places 3rd in her class at the DDBS National Specialty under French judge Andre Leblond.  She also completed her WD1 title by passing the Canine Good Citizen Test.

* 04/00 Bahama receives an OFA prelim rating of FAIR and a PenHip score of .56 ranking her in the top 10% of the breed.  In doing so she earned her DDBS Health star for hips.

   3/00 Duncan earns two more points towards his ARBA Championship at the Sun Ray Classic in San Diego.

6/97 Mufi participates in the World Dog Show in Puerto Rico. Over the weekend she earned her Puerto Rican Championship, won her first Best of Breed and came home with the Reserve Winner for the World Show.
